Really, Really, HOT Hawaii

So Kian's Uncles Rik and Curtis came over from Honolulu to visit. We are all always ready for an adventure and we just so happen to live down the street from the active volcano Kilauea. It has really been flowing down to the ocean lately and making some big news...so we thought we would go check it out! This is an area that years ago was a neighborhood and in 1999 the lava came and took that part of the island back to the ocean. So yes, we are standing on the highway or should I say what was once the highway in the last picture. The area we are standing on in the last picture is recent flow from a few weeks ago. Hawaii as always beauty and destruction all in the same place. It's not all just beaches as most people think!

I LOVE the Big Island! It is such a cool place. We were there a few years back for our anniversary, but the lava was flowing really far out, so we didn't go see it. Next time, we said, but I regret not going, esp after seeing your pics. Being there seeing all that new earth is just amazing.
